Scott Gibson is a native-born
McMinnville home towner. In high school
he became interested in photography
and showed some promising aptitude.
College, medical school, and internal
medicine residency forced a hiatus
in his photographic endeavors. But
when he and Melody moved back to McMinnville
to start a medical practice, he bought
a medium format camera and started
shooting Oregon landscapes. In 1999,
he published his first calendar, the
Splendor of Oregon. Its success led
to broadened horizons, and now he publishes
calendars of Oregon, Washington, California,
and the United States, selling over
20,000 calendars annually. His selections
here at Hidden Treasures are his first
showing in a gallery. His photos are
also available for viewing online at
GibPhoto.com.
Melody Gibson developed
an interest in taking photographs by
going on photo shoots with Scott. Hiking
with Scott up mountains, across streams,
and blazing new trails through the woods
to capture that unique picture of Oregon
inspired her to carry a camera too.
Often she has been the artistic eye
instructing Scott to take the photo
from her angle. She enjoys taking close
up shots of that perfect flower, the
sea shell on the beach, or in setting
up a unique still life such as the Wine
Glass in Fall Vineyard.
Scott and Melody
compliment each other in their photographic
talents. He shoots the large panoramic
view and Melody captures the close,
intricate view to share with you photographs
of the beauty of nature.
